PK FW Event - Episode 1

PK Fashion Event

FW22

MILANO

Episode 1
Quadriletero Della Moda
It was 18 months ago - February 2020 - when we were last in Milano to buy fashion the best way - up close and in person.

The Amina Rubinacci Fall/Winter collection had arrived in the Milan showroom just the day before we arrived in the "Quadriletero Della Moda" - Fashion District. So, with Rubinacci's Anna Menicucci and the model we were all looking at the new designs for the first time.
Later, over espressos, we sat down with Anna to talk fashion...
How would you describe the AR clientele here in Milano? What is the look they're after?

Anna: Well, that's a good question but I suppose they like a more classic look. You'll see it in the street fashion here in Milano too - the secret is in the quiet colors and the tailoring.

Almost a "quiet" fashion look?

Anna: Yes (laughing) you know the women of Milano are always on the move, and talking - they might be dropping the children at school, going to the office, even by bicycle because Milano is completely flat. Watch them when they meet friends for lunch, talking, moving their arms - we Italian women use hand gestures a lot! So maybe they need "quiet fashion".

Yes we noticed at our favorite trattoria in Brera: salads, pasta or pizza, lots of hugging and gestures while at the same time ordering, eating - moving the whole time!

Anna: Yes, that's why after "classic look" I'd say what's important to AR customers is the feeling of free movement in our clothes. That's why, you'll notice, our jackets are not lined - our customers find lining restricts their movement.

So, classic looks, and fashion which enables freedom to move... Is there an age group for Amina Rubinacci?

Anna: Not so much. Amina customers are all ages. But you know what's nice now? We have mothers, their daughters have just finished their studies and come to our shop in Brera to choose outfits for their first job. So mother and daughter are shopping together - this is a nice feeling for us.
Thanks for the espresso and the fashion chat. One last question - When we photograph your model or a special piece still on the rack, we always like to take some photos up close - just centimeters away. But we saw you too, looking at some pieces right close to your eyes. Why is that?

Anna: You know (laughing) you're right! I just love looking at the design textures in our fabrics - such as little circles, squares, other shapes, and little bits of sparkle. And maybe that's why you photo up so close?

Yes. That's it.
